Route 66 Workshop

I attended a workshop in June on a portion of Route 66.  It was from Adrian, Texas (midpoint) to
Santa Fe, New Mexico.  What I have hoped to capture in these shots is the nostalgia, the emptiness and the American spirit of  entrepreneurship and not giving up.
There is much to see and I highly recommend that you get out there and experience this interesting part of our American road trip history!

My World Tuesday

www.showyourworld.blogspot.com  Is a great place to see what other worlds are like.
Check it out!
This was my world one Saturday night in May 2010.
My sister's husband and my husband are Cowboys by Night.  Here they are playing in my backyard. Now they perform once a month at The Red Brick Cafe in Turlock, CA.  Come and see them if you are ever in Turlock!

The Best Shave Ice....In New Orleans?

A friend told my husband about a shave ice place in New Orleans.
It was supposed to be the BEST SHAVE ICE EVER!  So, off on an adventure we went to find it.  After a sweltering 30 minute trolley ride, we disembarked in a residential neighborhood.  Could we be in the right place?  Another not so cool 10 minute walk and down a side street we finally found it.
Nestled in the cradle of  a family neighborhood was an old building with a room the size of a closet, crammed with people of all ages, serving...Snowballs!  So we crammed in too!  And you know what?  They were FANTASTIC!  Totally worth the hour and twenty minute travel time.
So next time you are in NOLA....

My World Tuesday

My World in the Past.....
While in the South my family and I stopped in Birmingham Alabama.  We visited The Civil Right Institute.
I realised that I never really learned all that much about that time.  I was in California and the 60's was when I was a child and the history teachers weren't really teaching that as history yet.
So, I learned a lot and I plan to go back to the South to travel slower and learn more.

The South

My family and me took a quick trip in the southern states this June.  We went to Savannah and Louisiana.
It was quite steamy but we managed to have fun any how.
